IntellectEU Year in Review: 2024

In Blockchain & Digital Assets, we witnessed the massive progress this year of the Canton Network ecosystem, the launch of LF Decentralized Trust, and a report on the Regulated Settlement Network proof of concept, a historic project in terms of the maturity of digital asset initiatives.

In Payment Modernization we have seen similar levels of evolution. Efforts to push ISO 20022 adoption are advancing steadily, though there is still a significant amount of work to do before we achieve full migration across the industry. Changes to Swift’s product lines, marked by the zero-footprint strategy, require adaptability from financial institutions and enterprises. To assist with this challenge, IntellectEU has been sharing insights on the best ways to maximize the value of the latest Swift solutions.

Digital Assets & Catalyst Blockchain Manager

This year in Digital Assets, Catalyst Blockchain Manager assisted with major industry initiatives and enhanced its functionality, as we continue to drive blockchain adoption.

• Canton Network
  ‍
  This year, Catalyst has helped a long list of companies to join the Canton Network, reinforcing our position as a powerful enabler of blockchain adoption. Through Catalyst, it is now easier than ever to launch blockchain projects and participate in one of the fastest growing digital asset ecosystems in the world.

• Regulated Settlement Network
  ‍
  We are excited about the conclusion and findings from the Regulated Settlement Network (RSN) Proof of Concept, in which IntellectEU was proud to partner with industry participants as the development partner and infrastructure provider via Catalyst Blockchain Manager.
  
  Expanding on the findings of the Regulated Liability Network (RLN) PoC, the project explored how simultaneous, 24/7 settlement for multi-asset and cross-network transactions can be achieved, incorporating tokenized central and commercial bank deposits, U.S. Treasury securities, and other regulated assets.  
  
  We are proud to have contributed to this exciting initiative and believe that the technological capabilities and industry collaboration demonstrated during this PoC will lead to further innovation around tokenization and distributed ledger technology within financial markets.

• Expanded Blockchain Support
  ‍
  Catalyst now supports the Hyperledger Besu, Stellar, and Polygon CDK protocols, enabling greater versatility for enterprise blockchain applications.

• Driving Standards Adoption
  ‍
  Earlier this year, Euroclear, The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), Clearstream, and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) released ‘Building the Digital Asset Securities Ecosystem,’ introducing the DASCP Framework — a comprehensive risk and control framework to foster alignment for digital asset securities.
  
  With Catalyst, we aim to empower the Digital Asset Securities ecosystem by streamlining innovation, implementation, and scaling adoption of the DASCP Framework. In our latest article, we explore how Catalyst Blockchain Manager enables financial institutions to meet the DASCP Controls efficiently.

‍In Payment Modernization, we have been helping organizations adapt to recent innovations and market events, offering expertise developed over 18 years of implementing Swift technology solutions.

  We launched an initiative focused on sharing insights on Swift technology and recent trends in payments modernization. Along with several webinars we established our Swift Knowledge Base, providing a one-stop resource for understanding Swift products and services and how to maximize their value.

• ISO 20022 Standardization

  With the deadline in November 2025 fast approaching, IntellectEU has been working closely with organizations to ensure a smooth industry-wide migration. Around 40% of global financial messages will be ISO compliant by the end of 2024 — that leaves a long road ahead, during which many organizations will need assistance.

  Canton Network reached new heights in 2024 with its full go-live and the introduction of the Global Synchronizer. As one of 30 strategic partners, IntellectEU is honored to be playing a pivotal role in this transformative network for tokenized financial services.

• Launch of LF Decentralized Trust 
  
  The launch of LF Decentralized Trust by the Linux Foundation marked a new chapter in the blockchain ecosystem. IntellectEU supports this open-source initiative to drive adoption of ledger, cryptographic, and identity technologies.
  
  We are especially proud to be a founding member of LF Decentralized Trust and look forward to supporting the broader LFDT community as it continues to expand. Together with our partners, we aim to drive progress in this space through Catalyst Blockchain Manager, our solution for rapid prototyping and the development of production-ready systems using open-source technologies.

• Advancing Post-Quantum Cryptography
  
  IntellectEU became a founding member of the Post-Quantum Cryptography Alliance (PQCA), an open and collaborative initiative to drive the advancement and adoption of post-quantum cryptography. The PQCA continues to drive advancements in cryptographic security and IntellectEU remains at the forefront of these efforts, fostering industry collaboration.

Events and Conferences

30+ conferences and events attended this year, 
where we engaged with colleagues and clients to solve shared industry challenges.

• Digital Euro Conference: We presented details of our delivery-versus-payment PoC for digital asset transaction settlement. A use case we later expanded on and co-presented with LayerZero Labs during a Hyperledger In-Depth webinar.
  

• Swift Connect Africa: We met with the global finance community to help drive payment modernization. We are particularly focused on the helping organizations overcome the combined challenges of ISO 20022 adoption, IPLA/SIL retirement, and the industry shift to API-first services following the release of Swift Essentials
  

• Sibos 2024: We came together with the finance and Swift community to celebrate the massive progress made towards the G20’s goal of enhancing payment experiences.
